Publicis Groupe increased its revenues by 14.7% in the third quarter of 2012, aided by the weakened euro. The group also benefitted from acquisition activity that included buying out the majority stake in BBH Communications that it did not already own. But fears were also expressed about the future, adding to yesterday’s gloomy outlook from WPP (see WPP’s revenue growth beats Omnicom: sluggish fourth quarter expected).
The latest quarter’s performance contributed to a cumulative growth rate of 14.4% for the year to date, although without the favourable currency impact the growth rate would have been only 8.1%. Even so, that growth rate was considerably better than either WPP or Omnicom achieved, although it fell short of WPP on a like-for-like basis that excludes the impact of acquisitions as well as currency movements.
