Omnicom imitates Publicis: exceptional gains mask static performance

Omnicom Group has followed the example set by Publicis Groupe last week by relying on exceptional gains to lift a decline in underlying operating profit in 2018 to a 22% gain in post-tax profit.

The group reported a post-tax profit of $1.3 billion, up from $1 .1 billion in 2017.  But revenue remained almost unchanged from the previous year and the operating profit fell by 6.2%.
