Interpublic board fights bid to impose an independent chairman

The board of The Interpublic Group of Companies is fighting a bid to require the chairman to be an independent member of the board.

On the agenda for the company’s shareholders’ meeting, to be held on 24 May, is a resolution submitted by Kenneth Steiner that the Interpublic board be requested to amend its governance rules to require the chair to be an independent member of the board whenever possible.
