Investors speculate on WPP’s future as shares slip further

Shares in the world’s largest marketing group WPP shed more than 5% of their value this morning in the wake of the sudden departure of chief executive Sir Martin Sorrell (see Sorrell shock: “In the interest of all it is best for me to step down”.

However, that fall may be regarded as relatively insignificant, bearing in mind that the shares had already lost 31.7% of their value in the immediately preceding year.
