Interpublic paying $2.3bn to buy Acxiom‘s data management business

Interpublic is paying $2.3 billion in cash to acquire the US database marketing division of Acxiom Corporation, known as Acxiom Marketing Services or AMS.

The deal is a major investment by Interpublic, a company that has spent modestly on acquisitions in recent years after incurring losses of over $1 billion in the decade to 2005 (see Interpublic lost nearly $1 billion in 10 years).
